Tutorial for new players

When you first start playing, you begin with nothing and can scavenge the environment for loot, weapons, and ammo.

The objective is to gear up and complete missions before anyone else, earn credits and bank them in ATM's, then spend credits on vehicles, weapons and supplies to survive.

If you are too impatient to scavenge loot and earn credits to buy items, you can fast track and buy cosmetics on the decimated.net/marketplace

Anything you buy, cannot be looted by other players. Only at-risk items that you scavenged can be looted by others.

Basic Controls:

  • C: Crouch
  • X: Prone
  • F: Pick up items or interact
  • G: Drop equipped weapon
  • H: Holster your weapon
  • N: show/hide waypoints
  • M: Open the map (zoom in/out, set custom waypoints)
  • Q/E: Switch player camera to left/right shoulder
  • V: Open vehicle selection screen / Change vehicle camera
  • Shift (hold): Activate vehicle nitro
  • CAPS LOCK: auto run
  • Hold RMB: aim
  • Click RMB: look down sight/scope
  • Enter: Open text chat (Tab to switch global/faction chat)
  • Tab: show online players
  • Space: Jump
  • Double space: use jetpack

Spawn Locations

Spawn locations are the most heavily looted areas. When the server resets every 24 hours, these areas are restocked with loot and vehicles.

If you can't find loot, head to the trader outpost (the giant ship) where you can usually find supplies. You can also explore the map, but watch out for rogue NPCs.

Vehicles and Jetpacks

Vehicles:

  • Try to find a vehicle quickly. The map is huge, and traveling on foot will get tiring.
  • If you overturn a vehicle, press Z to flip it back on its wheels. (Note: This feature will be removed in the future when mechanics are introduced.)
  • Vehicles can be purchased on the Decimated Marketplace.
  • While driving, press V to change the camera view.
  • Press and hold Shift to activate nitro.
  • Refuel vehicles with fuel cells at the rear left corner of the vehicle (fuel pumps coming soon)

Jetpacks:

  • There are two types of jetpacks:
    • Combat Jetpacks: Feature a dash ability.
    • Explorer Jetpacks: Longer flight duration until fuel runs out.
  • You can refuel jetpacks using fuel cells. The fuel gauge is in the middle of the screen.

Managing Health and Hunger

  • Bandages: Stop bleeding.
  • Blood Packs: Restore blood levels (keep and eye on this to ensure you are not bleeding out).
  • Food/Drink: Restore hunger and thirst levels.
  • Medkits: Restore health.

You can drop, move, or use items inside your inventory.

Gearing Up and Missions

Once you have enough gear and a vehicle, you can start completing missions to earn credits and loot. Killing enemy players and NPCs also rewards credits.

Weapons:

There are multiple weapons in the game, including:

  • Pistols
  • Rifles
  • Shotguns
  • Sniper Rifles
  • Grenade Launchers
  • Grenades

Weapons come in MK1 and MK2 versions, which will have more differentiation in the future.

Mission Types:

  • Kill: Highest risk/reward.
  • Delivery
  • Scout
  • Race
  • Collect

New players should start with delivery, scout, race, or collect missions. Remember, missions have a time limit, and you will be competing against other players to complete them.

You can also ambush other players at mission waypoints to attack them and steal their loot or vehicles. (Note: Purchased vehicles cannot be stolen.)

Banking Credits and Storage

  • Earn Credits: Complete missions, kill NPC's and enemy players, pick up cred sticks.
  • ATMs: Bank your credits to keep them safe. Until you do, other players can kill or rob you.
  • Once banked, credits are secure and can be used to buy gear at vending machines or traders. These items will persist across respawns.
  • Weapons can be stored in weapons storage.
  • All other loot can be stored in regular storage.
  • Any scavenged (at-risk) items cannot be sold at the moment.
  • Any purchased (secured) items can be sold for credits.
  • Mission items will be available for sale in the future. For now, you can store them in a vault.

Important Rules

  • Team killing is not allowed (except in the marauder faction).
  • If you shoot friendly players or NPCs, the NPCs will retaliate and kill you quickly.

Teamwork

You will survive longer in a group. Team up with other players in your faction and carry passengers in your vehicle.

  • Press Enter to open game chat and talk to other players globally.
  • Press Tab in the game chat to switch to faction chat. (Voice chat is coming soon.)

Earning DIO

To earn DIO in the leaderboards, you need to connect a wallet on the Decimated website.

You can earn DIO by:

  • Killing enemy NPCs and players

  • And more
